About This Item
Introducing the Synthrotek Atari Punk Console DIY Kit - the perfect project for beginners and experienced electronics enthusiasts alike! Originally designed by DIY electronics guru Forrest Mims III, this kit allows you to create your very own Stepped Tone Generator, also known as the Atari Punk Console. The Atari Punk Console is an iconic Lo-Fi synth circuit that has gained recognition for its unique and distinctive sound. With its minimal part count and a single 556 dual timer IC, this circuit is a reliable and trusted noise generator that can produce mind-bending square wave madness! One of the standout features of the Atari Punk Console DIY Kit is its versatility. It can be powered by either a 9V battery or an AC Adapter rated at 5-12V 200mA with Center Negative polarity, offering you flexibility and saving you money on batteries.
Plus, the DC Jack allows for seamless power switching, so battery power is only enabled when there is no AC Adapter plugged in. Take your sonic exploration to the next level with the Control Voltage (CV) input. This feature allows you to connect step sequencers and waveform generators, expanding the capabilities of the Atari Punk Console from creating drones to arpeggio-like dynamism. You can use any variable voltage source from 0-Supply Voltage to add a touch of glitchy goodness to your sounds! The kit comes complete with three potentiometer controls - Pulse, Width, and Frequency - that allow you to contour the tone to your liking.
The Volume control ensures your output is set at just the right level. Additionally, the kit features 1/4 instrument jacks for easy connectivity. Rest assured, the Atari Punk Console PCB is designed by the experts at Synthrotek and manufactured to high-quality standards by our trusted partners, Imagineering, right here in the USA. The silkscreen layer on the PCB makes component placement a breeze, allowing you to assemble your kit with minimal effort. Don't miss out on the opportunity to build your own Synthrotek Atari Punk Console and embark on a sonic adventure like no other.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or a beginner in the world of electronics, this DIY kit is sure to bring you hours of joy and endless creative possibilities. Get your Synthrotek Atari Punk Console DIY Kit today and start making some unforgettable noise!.

Synthrotek Tabletop Synthesizers K-C-APC Editorial Review
Synthrotek Atari Punk console DIY Kit is an engaging project for those with some soldering experience, even though it may pose a challenge for beginners due to the small solder points and lack of detailed instructions. Users have noted that while it offers a unique creative outlet, the absence of step-by-step guidance can be frustrating, leading to mixed results in functionality. Additionally, the kit's auxiliary connectivity allows it to integrate easily with other devices, enhancing its versatility for sound experimentation. Overall, it appeals to those who enjoy DIY electronics but may deter novices who require clearer instructional support.
