The thin layer of material provides adequate protection against sharp reef rocks and prevents cuts without compromising flexibility in movement. The sizing, according to the FAQ, is in men's sizes and generally runs true to size for a normal fit. However, women may need to go one size down. These booties may not be the best choice for surfing as they tend to slide off easily and allow sand to get inside due to shorter length.
