Delhi'den Moskova'ya, Orta Asya'dan Tanrı Dağları'na, Anadolu ve Toroslar üzerinden Avrasya'ya kadar yeni fetihler için karşısına çıkan güçleri hallaç pamuğu gibi oradan oraya savurmuştur. Şüphe yok ki birçok kadim şehri de yerle bir etmiş, bazılarını ise kudretinden esirgemiştir. Uzun yıllar boyunca inşa ettiği Türk-Moğol kültürü, ölümünden sonra yerini Türk-İslam kültürüne bırakmış ve Osmanlılar, Safeviler, Babürlüler gibi büyük imparatorluklar için ilham kaynağı olmuştur. Timur'un (Aksak Timur, Timurlenk, Temür) destansı ismi tarihteki unutulmaz yerini almıştır.
